Eugene Lim is a litigator with extensive trial and courtroom experience, representing Fortune 500 companies, global media and technology companies, private equity firms, healthcare providers, and senior executives in complex commercial and white-collar litigation. He handles high-stakes disputes with both reputational and financial exposure, including shareholder and post-transaction matters, multi-billion-dollar business torts, intellectual property litigation, and government investigations. His practice spans media, technology, healthcare, finance, and real estate, and he draws on his background advising on major M&A and investment transactions to guide clients through disputes with significant strategic and financial implications. He also maintains an active pro bono practice on behalf of vulnerable individuals.

Among his notable representations are:

  • Achieved resolution of multi-billion-dollar business-tort litigation on eve of trial, representing Fortune 500 media leader; presiding judge remarked to counsel: “I have been on the bench since 2010. . . . I think this is the best lawyering I’ve had, ever.”

  • Member of trial team that secured a $21 million federal jury award against controlling shareholders, board members, and officers involving $250 million energy-services technology provider in corporate fiduciary duty dispute.

  • Secured high seven-figure settlement for client on first day of trial, after defeating summary judgment, on behalf of founder and former chairman of leading global talent agency and premier entertainment company in business dispute.

  • Won dismissal of copyright infringement lawsuit related to critically acclaimed movie Gone Girl representing studio, author, director, and producers.

  • Resolved multiple high-stakes, multi-million-dollar civil claims for leading global video game developer, publisher, and executives.

  • Advised Fortune 100 companies and private equity funds on complex M&A and real estate transactions, including one of largest media mergers in history and nine-figure real estate investments, experience informing his litigation of post-transaction and investment disputes.

  • Precluded class certification and obtained dismissal at pleading stage of fraud, negligent misrepresentation, and Section 17200 claims against prominent internet company.

  • Steered Fortune 500 financial institution through DOJ investigations, conducting internal investigations resulting in no charges filed.

  • Neutralized threatened litigation by global biopharmaceutical powerhouse against Fortune 10 healthcare company through targeted internal investigation and presentation of substantive defenses, persuading plaintiff to abandon filing.

  • Guided multi-facility healthcare provider in False Claims Act litigation, securing DOJ declination of intervention.

  • Defended prominent real estate developer in investor litigation arising from landmark Los Angeles development project, resulting in claims withdrawn before trial.

While in law school, Eugene drafted amicus briefs on First Amendment issues for cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Ninth and Eleventh Circuits. Along with his team, he was invited to present oral arguments in both circuits. Additionally, Eugene was the Chief Managing Editor of the UCLA Journal of Environmental Law and Policy and received multiple awards for achieving the highest grades in his classes.
