Eugene Lim is a litigator with extensive trial and courtroom experience, representing Fortune 500 companies, global media and technology companies, private equity firms, healthcare providers, and senior executives in complex commercial and white-collar litigation. He handles high-stakes disputes with both reputational and financial exposure, including shareholder and post-transaction matters, enterprise-level commercial tort disputes, intellectual property litigation, and government investigations. His practice spans media, technology, and finance, with additional experience in complex healthcare disputes, and he draws on his background advising on major M&A and investment transactions to guide clients through disputes with significant strategic and financial implications. He also maintains an active pro bono practice on behalf of vulnerable individuals.

Among his notable representations are:

  • Achieved resolution of multibillion-dollar, enterprise-level business tort litigation on the eve of trial for a Fortune 500 media company; presiding judge remarked: “I have been on the bench since 2010… I think this is the best lawyering I’ve had, ever.”

  • Member of trial team securing a $21 million federal jury verdict against controlling shareholders, directors, and officers involving a $250 million energy-services technology company in a corporate fiduciary duty dispute.

  • Secured high seven-figure settlement on first day of trial—after defeating summary judgment—on behalf of the founder and former chairman of a global talent agency in a major business dispute.

  • Won dismissal of copyright infringement claims related to the film Gone Girl on behalf of the studio, author, director, and producers.

  • Resolved multiple high-stakes, multimillion-dollar civil claims for a leading global video game developer and senior executives.

  • Advised Fortune 100 companies and private equity funds on complex M&A and real estate transactions, including one of the largest media mergers in history, as well as nine-figure real estate investments.

  • Defeated class certification and obtained dismissal at the pleading stage of fraud, negligent misrepresentation, and Section 17200 claims against a prominent Internet company.

  • Guided a Fortune 500 financial institution through DOJ investigations, conducting internal reviews and securing declination of charges.

  • Neutralized threatened litigation by a global biopharmaceutical company against a Fortune 10 company through targeted internal investigation and presentation of substantive defenses, persuading the plaintiff to abandon filing.

  • Represented multifacility healthcare provider in False Claims Act litigation, securing DOJ declination of intervention.

  • Defended prominent real estate developer in investor litigation arising from a landmark Los Angeles development project, resulting in all claims withdrawn pretrial.

  • Negotiated a significant, confidential settlement for a high-profile political figure five months after being retained.

  • Represented Am Law 100 firms in sensitive professional responsibility litigation.

  • Obtained favorable settlement for pro bono transgender client in Section 1983 excessive force litigation.

  • Secured withdrawal of wrongful eviction notice in pro bono matter for elderly disabled woman.

  • Earned substantial spousal-support award on behalf of a domestic violence survivor in pro bono representation.
